The Commonwealth of Virginia To the Sheriff of Pittsylvania County Greeting We command you to bring before the Judge of the Circuit Superior Court of Law & Chancery for said County the bodies of Samuel & John Carter now detained in Custody by Isaac Brumfield and William Keesee as it is said, on tuesday next and that you also Summon the said Brumfield & Keesee to appear before the said Court now sitting at the Courthouse thereof on the day aforesaid to state the causes of the detention of the said Samuel & John Carter and to do and receive all and singular those things which shall be then & there considered of them in this behalf. And have then there this writ. Witness William H. Tunstall clerk of our said Court at the Courthouse this 21st day of October 1843 in the 68th year of the Commonwealth. Wm. H. Tunstall
