City of Richmond, To wit, I William Lambert Mayor of said City do hereby certify, that George Jones a free negro was this day recognized by me to appear before the justices of the Hustings Court on the fourteenth day of February 1853. and answer a bill of indictment to the profered against him for a misdemeanor by him committed in this; that he the said George Jones having been emancipated since the year 1806 has remained in the Commonwealth, and is now in the City of Richmond, in violation of law.

Given under my hand this 29th day of November 1852 Wm Lambert Mayor
