City of Richmond, to wit, To the Clerk of the Hustings Court of said City I Joseph Mayo Mayor of the said City do hereby certy that I have this committed Elijah Pittman a free negro to the Jail of the said City, that he may be tried by the Hustings Court of the said City for a felony by him committed, in this, that on the 27th day of January in the year 1865, at the City of Richmond and within the Jurisdiction of the Hustings Court of the said City, he did feloniously take steal and Carry away, divers paper writings of value for the payment of money Commonly Called Treasury Notes of the Confederate States of America, for the payment of two hundred Dollars and of the Value of two hundred dollars, of the goods and chattles, paper writings of Value Money and property of George A. Leonhard,
