Be it remembered that on the 1st day of March 1865, Barbary Krouse personally appeared before me James K. Caskie Recorder of the said City, and acknowledged herself to be indebted to the Commonwealth of Virginia in the sum of three hundred dollars of her goods and chattels lands and tenements to be levied and unto the said Commonwealth to be rendered, if Richard, a slave the property of Delia Mack shall make default in the Condition underwritten.

The Condition of the above Obligation is such, that whereas the above named Richard has this day been tried before me James K. Caskie Recorder of said City, to answer the charge of unlawfully associating and cohabiting with Delia Mack a white woman and has by my Judgment been convicted and Sentenced to be punished with thirty nine lashes according to law; from which Judgment and sentence an appeal is taken to the Hustings Court of said City.

Now if the said Slave Richard shall personally appear before the said Court of Hustings on the first day of the March term 1865, to be held by the Justices thereof, to answer the Commonwealth of the said Offence whereof he has been Convicted and shall not depart thence without the leave of the Court then this recognizance is to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Taken and acknowledged before me this 1st day of March 1865. James K. Caskie Recorder
