At a Court of Oyer and Terminer held in Frederick County the 1st day of December 1807 for the trial of negro Joseph a slave the property of Samuel Kerfott on suspicion of feloniously breaking open the door of the house of Nancy Mitchell of this County and attempting to commit a rape upon the body of her the said Nancy Mitchell on Friday the 20th of November

Present Thomas Buck, John B Tilden, Thomas Stribling, James M Marshall and Philip Wilson Gent. Justices

The prisoner was brought to the bar and Willoughby Morgan Esqr. appointed counsel to defend him so hereupon sundry witnesses were examined in consideration of whose testimony and the circumstances attending the same it is the opinion of the court that he is guilty. Therefore it is considered by this Court that the said negroe Joe be castrated and that Execution of this Judgment be done and performed on him the said negroe Joe by Docr. Robert Macky as soon may be and thereupon he is remanded to Jail
