[perpendicular as label on folded document] Richard [Riney?] Affidavit Fy-18

I have been intimately acquainted with the family of the later Turner Dixon ever since the year 21 having resided on this estate nearly ever since, I am of opinion that a division of his widow's dower (Mrs Maria Dixon's) estate amongst her children would be greatly advantageous to all parties. She has been ever since from the facts in my possession a lunatic without a shadow of hope of her recovery. [signed] John Shumate

Fauqr County to Wit John Shumate made oath before me a Justice of the Peace for said County that the above statement contains the truth. Given under my hand this 6 day of November 1832. [signed] A Hickerson Fy-19
