To ye Worppll their Maties Justices for Stafford County now in Court sitting this 18th day of May 1693. Richard Gibson Complaining Sheweth ; That whereas at A Court held for this County ye 6th of October 1691. It was presented, and Offered to this Courts Consideracon whether Popish Recusants, and other Recusants, should Practice ye Law &c, or injoy ye Benefitts of ye same till they had Approved themselves Subjects, by taking ye Oathes appointed, And at that time it was also requested, and in Justice demanded, as well on ye part and behalfe of their Soveraigne Maties as on ye Behalfe of this Complainant, and other ye good Subjects of this County, that Mr George Brent and Robert Brent and all other Recusants, who at that time did, or hereafter did intend to Practice ye Law as Attorneys Soliceters & might be called before this Court, and ye Oathes appointed might be tendred to them, and that Certificate thereof might be made according to Law As alsoe Informacon hath been made against ye said George Brent, and Robt. Brent to ye Grand Jury of this County ye 13th of Decembr 1692 that they might not only be Presented as Popish Recusants; but for severall wicked Crimes, in that informacon layd downe, which said Informacon was likewise presented to this Court As alsoe severall Pleas, at sundry times, and lately Vizt: ye 6th of Aprill 1693 hath been made by this Complainant to disable ye said Geo Brent and Robt Brent as Popish Recusants to Practice ye Law & as by ye said first Presentmt of October 1691 ye Informacon to ye Grand Jury and their presentment and ye Continued Pleas, and Exceptions, against ye said George Brent, and Robt Brent, may appeare: and is here ready to be produced, and read in Court: Of all which there seems to be Little, or noe Notice taken: but they Suffered to goe on, soe that this Complaint hath been frustrate and prevented of the due
