158 This Indenture made the fifth day of June 1693 & in the fifth yeare of the Reigne of our Soverainge Lord and Lady William and Mary by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King and Queene Defenders of the fayth .&c. Between James Cocke John Golightly and Solomon Crook of Bristoll parish in Charles Citty Coun. of the one part and William Mayes of the same place of the other part. Wittneseth That the sd James Cocke John Golightly & Soloman Croock for a certein sum of tobacco to them in hand payd by the said William Mayes with wch they are fully content & satisfyed doe for them selves their heyrs Ex'rs and adm'rs give grant alien enfeoff and confirm and by thes pnts have freely and cleerly given granted aliened enfeoffd and confirmd unto the afforsd Willia Mayes his heyrs and Ass for ever a Certain peece or pcell of land lyeing betweene the land of James Cock and the orphan of Capt Henry Randolphs land all wch is part of a Patent of six hundred forty seaven acres lyeing uppon the Second Swamp as p[er] the sd Patent dated the 19 Aprill 1690 may appear to have & to hold the sd peece or parcell of land cont. one hundred twenty nine acres be the same more or less with all priviledges and appurts to the same belonging or in any wise apperteining to him the said Wm Mayes his heyrs and Ass forever in as full & ample maner to all intents and purposes as they the said James Cock, John Golightly and Solomon Crook have could or might enjoy it by virtue of the sd Patent. In Wittnes wherof we have heerunto sett our hands and affixed our seales the day and year first above written. To all christian people to whom this pnt writeing shall come. Wheras Capt: Henry Randolph late of Henrico County decd James Cocke, John Golightly and Solomon Crook of Bristoll parish in Charles Citty Coun. did at their equall joynt charge take upp and Patent a certain tract of Land cont. six hundred forty seaven acres Scituate in Charles Citty County lyeing at a place known by the name of the second Swamp as by Patent dated the 19th day of Aprill 1690 may appear wch said land being not divided in the life time of the sd Capt: Henry Randolph the right now wholy vests in us wherfore Know ye that We the sd James Cock, John Golightly, and Solomon Crook in Consideracon of the trouble charg and expence which he the sd Randolph was att dureing his life time in takeing upp patenting and seating the sd land and out of the love and affection we bear unto Henry Randolph son and heyr of the sd Capt. Henry Randolph decd as well as for divers other good cause & consideracons [illegible] there unto moveing doe give grant alien enfeoff and confirm and by thes pnts have for us our heyrs Exrs and admrs freely and cleerly given granted aliened enfeoffd and confirmed unto Henry Randolph sonn of the afforsd Capt Henry Randolph a certein peece part or parcell of the afforsd land lyeing between the land of William Mayes and Solomon Crook Cont. one hundred and twenty nine acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the sd land with all the priviledges and advantages which we or either of us have could or might claim by virtue of the above recited Patent to him the sd Henry Randolph son of the afforsd Capt. Henry Randolph and to his heyrs and Ass for ever without any lett hindrance disturbance or molestaton of us the sd James Cock, John Golighly Solomon Crook our heyrs Exrs admrs or Ass. or of and from any other person or p[er]sons whatsoever claiming or to claime from by or under us or them or either of them.
