159 This Indenture made the seaventh day of January in the fifth year of the Reign of our Soveraigne Lord and Lady King William and Queen Mary and in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred ninty two between Henry Batte and James Thweat both of the parish of Bristoll in the County of Charles Citty of the one part and Randoll Mattocks of the parish of Westover and the County afforsd of the other part Witnesseth that the sd Henry Batt and James Thweat for the valluable consideracon of twenty pounds lawfull mony of England to them the sd James Thweat and Henry Batt by the sd Rand: Madock according to agreement between them well and truely sattisfied and pd whereof and of every part and parcell therof the sd James Thweat and Henry Batt doth free quitt releas and discharge him the sd Randoll Mattock his heyrs Exrs and admrs and hath for them and their heyres given granted bargaind sold aliened assignd enfeoffed and confirmd and doth by thes pnts fully freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell assigne over enfeoff and Confirm to him the sd Randoll Mattocks his heyrs and Ass. one parcell of Land in the present possession & occupacon of him the sd James Thweat with all priviledges proffitts and emolumts whatsoever the sd parcell Conteining one hundred and ninty acres more or less scittuate and lyeing in the parish of Westover in the County afforsd begining at a corner being a little black oke neer to a little feild formerly cleared by the sd Henry Batt & James Thweat and running thence South by east two hundred sixty five pole or therabouts and running thence East No: east one hundred twenty two pole or therabouts thence No: by West two hundred and sixty pole or therabouts thence West or neer it one hundred and twenty two pole or therabouts neer the little feild afforsd. being due by patent granted by Sr. Henry Chichly Knt. and Governr of Virg: to have and to hold the sd one hundred and ninty acres of land with all others the appurtns. therunto belonging to him the sd Randoll Mattocks his heyrs and Ass forever in as large and ample maner to all intents and purposes as they the sd James Thweat and Henry Batt or any other might or could enjoy the same. And further the sd James Thweat and Henry Batt doe for them their heyrs Exrs. admrs and Ass. Covenant promise & agree to and with the sd Randoll Mattock his heyrs and Ass. that the sd James Thweat and Henry Batt is at present rightfully seized of the sd land by an indeferable title in Law and that the sd land is at present free and clear and is and shall be warranted and maintained free and clear from any former bargain sale gift grant Dower estate title claime interest made by them the sd James Thweat and Henry Batt or any person clayming under them or their heyrs on by or with their present consent or procuremt. And that the sd Randoll Mattock his heyrs and Ass shall peacably & quiettly posess and enjoy all the before recited pr[e]mises without the lett hindrances or molestacon of them the sd James Thweat or Henry Batt or their heyres Signed sealled and dellivered the day and year abovesd in pnce of

Acknowledged and Surrendered in Court of Charles Citty County by the affrosd James Thweat and Henry Batt unto the sd Randoll Mattock the fifth day of June 1693 Test James Minge Cl Cur.
Att the same time Mary the wife of James Thweat by James Anderson her atturny Relinquished her Right of Dower of in and to the sd Land to the sd Randall Mattock Test James Minge Also att the same time the Wife of Henry Batt being first examined by the justices did relinquish unto Randolph Mattock her right of Dower of in and to the sd Land Test.
