The Needlework Guild of America Minute Sheet March 24, 1926 The annual meeting of the Portsmouth Branch of the Needlework Guild was held March 24, 1926 at 4 o'clock in the Y.W.C.A. The president, Mrs. McAlpine presided at the meeting. The report of the secretary was read and her report approved. 1448 garments were collected and distributed for 1925. Miss Williams, the treasurer reported a balance on hand of $78.39. Mrs. J. D. Collins, custodian of the reserve articles reported that 204 garments had been used in private cases thru out the year and 79 garments remained in the reserve. Mrs. McAlpine read a most interesting letter concerning the "Thank Offering Fund" of the Guild. Over $33,000 was raised for this fund. The report of the national president, Mrs. Newberry for 1925 was also read by Mrs. McAlpine. Over 1,000,000 articles were collected and distributed for that year. A letter was read by the president concerning a Junior Branch of the Needlework Guild and it was decided to make no effort to begin one at present. The election of officers then took place for the ensuing year and resulted as follows: - President - Mrs Kenneth McAlpine Vice " - Mrs J. McK Jack Treasurer - Miss Pauline Williams Secretary - Mrs. Robt R Beaton Custodian of Reserve - Mrs. J. D. Collins It was decided to hold the annual exhibit May 12th at the Trinity Parish House.
