The Needlework Guild of America Minute Sheet March 20, 1928 The annual meeting of the Portsmouth Branch of the Needlework Guild was held March 20, 1928, 4 p.m. in the Y.W.C.A. The president, Mrs. Kenneth McAlpine, presided at the meeting. The minutes of the last meeting (1927) were read by the secretary and her report was approved. 1539 articles were collected and distributed for 1927. The Treasurer, Miss Pauline Williams read her report for the year, which showed a balance on hand of $122.73. Mrs. J. D. Collins, custodian of the reserve articles reported 143 garments were left in the reserve. It was decided to divide these remaining articles among the charitable institutions of the City. Over one hundred articles were used in private cases last year. Mrs. McAlpine read a letter from Miss Marian Betile concerning the coming convention, which is to be held in Kansas City, Mo., May 3, 4 and 5th. All officers were urged to attend if possible. It was decided to hold the annual exhibit May 10th at the Presbyterian Chapel. Miss Neely was asked to get permission for the use of the chapel. The election of officers was then held and the following were elected unanimously: President - Mrs. Kenneth McAlpine Vice " - Mrs. L. McK. Jack Secretary - Mrs. Robt.
