The Needlework Guild of America Minute Sheet Annual meeting 1961 The annual meeting of the Portsmouth Branch of the Needlework Guild of America was held on April 6, 1961 at the house of Mrs. Kenneth McAlpine, our honorary president, with ten members present. Our President, Mrs. Rawles, opened the meeting with a very lovely devotional. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mrs. R. L. Sweeney, our treasurer, read her report which was as follows: Jan. 1 1961 Bal. on hand 136.33 Jan 5 - Disbursement to Needlework Guild of America dues $60.00 Bal. as of April 6-1961-76.33 The Secretary read correspondence from several agencies thanking the Guild for articles donated. Our President read invitation from the National President to the convention to be held May 9-10-11th 1961-at George Washington Motor Lodge, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. May 9, 1961 was designated as the date of ingathering and secretary was instructed to acquaint all Section leaders. One of our new members Mrs. Boyton was instructed on details of Needlework Guild. Mrs. McAlpine notified us that Leggetts gave ten percent discount on all material
