This Indenture, MADE the 6th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Fifty four BETWEEN Isaac Russell one of the Overseers of the Poor of Frederick County, of the one part, and Alfred Rust of the same County, of the other part: Witnesseth, That the said Overseer in consequence of the powers in him vested by law, and pursuant to an order of the Court of the County aforesaid, dated April Term 1854, have put, placed, and bound, and by these presents do put, place, and bind Hannah Matilda Sprout (coulord) unto the said Alfred Rust with him to dwell, and serve after the manner of an apprentice, until she shall arrive at and attain the full age of Eighteen years, (the said Hannah Matilda being Four years old the 10th day of October last past,) during all which time the apprentice with the said Alfred Rust well and faithfully shall serve, his secrets keep, and his lawful commands at all times readily obey; hurt to the said Alfred Rust or his family shall not do, nor willingly suffer the same to be done by others; but henceforth shall notify him thereof. The goods of the said Alfred Rust shall not waste or embezzle, nor lend them without orders from the said Alfred Rust from the service of the said Alfred Rust shall not at any time depart or absent her self without his permission, and in all and every thing and things she shall truly, honestly, and faithfully demean her self towards the said Alfred Rust as a good and faithful apprentice ought to do. IN CONSIDERATION WHEREOF, the said Alfred Rust on his part and behalf, doth hereby covenant, promise, and agree, to and with the said Overseer and his successors, that he will constantly find and provide for said apprentice good wholesome diet, clothing, and cleanly washing and lodging, suitable to her degree, during the whole term of servitude, that he will teach, or cause the said apprentice to be taught, the business of House Servant within the said term, and at the expiration thereof, pay and allow her the sum of Twenty five dollars for her freedom dues.
