This Indenture made the 6th day of February 1860 between Kate Jefferson free negress, of the County of Frederick, the mother of George Jefferson an infant under the age of fourteen years of the one part and Jacob Shryock of the said county of the other part, witnesseth; that the said Kate Jefferson formally and with the allowance and consent of the county court of Frederick county by an order of said court, made in this 6th day of February 1860, in pursuant of the statute in that case made and provided, has put and placed and by these presents does put and place the said George Jefferson (the child of the said Kate Jefferson aged eleven years on the 8th day of December 1859, apprentice to the said Jacob Shryock with him to dwell and serve from the day of the date of these presents until the said apprentice shall accomplish his full age of twenty one years. And the said Kate Jefferson for herself her heirs does hereby covenant promise and agree to and with the said Jacob Shryock his executor, that he the said George Jefferson, the said Jacob Shryock his master shall and will faithfully serve in all lawful business according to his power, wit, and ability, and honestly, orderly and obediently in all things demean and behave himself towards his said master during the said term of apprenticeship. And the said Jacob Shryock for himself his heirs does covenant promise and agree to and with the said Kate Jefferson her executor by these presents that he the said Jacob Shryock shall and will teach and instruct the said George Jefferson, or cause him to be taught and instructed in the art, trade and mystery of a farmer, in the said term, and shall and will during all the term aforesaid find, provide, and allow
