Hanover Court Virginia December the 31st 1839. Received of Doctor Henry Curtis of said County the just and full sum of Two hundred and thirty five dollars lawful money of the Commonwealth, in full for the purchase by, and delivery to the said Curtis of a negro woman slave named Dilcey bought by me at public auction from my deceased Fathers estate and I hereby bind my self my heirs executors and administrators to defend and secure to the said Curtis a clear and indefensible title though all time in and to the said slave Dilcey as witness my hand and seal the day and year first above written.
