Feb 7th '18-

\My dear Mrs. Munford: I regret greatly that it will be impossible for me to come to Richmond just now. I spent Tuesday there and, being on the road missed your telegram which was returned. However, I could not have stayed over until Friday, so the result would have been the same. Our Danville politicians are so blindly opposed to the College that they do not want to learn better- and as they are loyal to the "machine" will not use individual judgment in the matter at all. For this reason, I do not feel that my absence will make any difference in the success of your mission, which you can win if it is humanly attainable.

With best wishes, Sincerely yours, Janie Gray Hagan.
