Mrs. U. R. VanKleek 6 Weyanoke Apts., Norfolk, VA
My dear Mrs. VanKleek:
I have been asking about rates to Roanoke and Nashville, via N. & W., The agent here tells me that a party of ten can get a reduction of $1.20 on each ticket, so that the fare form Norfolk to Roanoke for a party of ten will be $4.75 each; regular fare $5.95. No stop-over privileges. Hence you will have to get tickets in Roanoke for Nashville, reduced rate party of ten, $5.87. No round trip tickets sold. Leave Norfolk Friday evening, November 6th at 8 P.M., reach Roanoke early next morning; can remain in slepper [sleeper] until 7 A.M. You get the Pullman at Petersburg. We might arrange for the Richmond and Norfolk delegation to have two special Pullmans, as we hope to carry at least twenty to Roanoke, perhaps more.
We leave Roanoke on the "Memphis Special" at 11 A.M., reaching Nashville the following day at 7 A.M. , through sleeper.
Some of the Virginia delegation will stop over at Chattanooga for the Southern States Woman Suffrage Conference, Nov. 10th and 11th, on the way to Nashville. Perhaps some of your delegation would do the same things.
Hoping to receive the list of your delegates and alternates at an early date, I am
Hastily and cordially yours,
Lila M. Valentine
