Oct 6th 1918 My dear Mother - Well I never was more surprised in my life, when I got your letter this morning telling me about Abe's home coming. Oh, If I could only been there, I just know how glad you all were to see him and from what the paper said they certainly did five him a hearty welcome - I am proud of him, and he is a Captain now - I hope he will never have to come back over, and I don't believe he will. I think one of us over here at a time is enough, don't you? And you said he and Fan were going over to Houston for a day, hope he did for I know they all will be so glad to see him. You know I could not understand why I had not heard from him for I had written him and wired too - I have wished I was home Today more than any time since I have been over here - But I am getting on alright, and feeling fine
