Know all men by these presents, that we Baldwin Dade, and Catharine Dade his wife, of the Town and county of Alexandria and district of Columbia, for in consideration of the sum of Two hundred & fifty dollars, to us in hand paid by Thomas Triplett, of the town, county and district aforesaid, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof we the said Baldwin and Catharine do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents do grant bargain and sell, unto the said Thomas Triplett, his executors, administrators and assigns, a certain negro girl, by name Maria (the younger), aged about Sixteen or Seventeen years. To have and to hold the said negro girl Maria, to the said Thomas Triplett his executors administrators and assigns, forever. And we the said Baldwin Dade and Catharine Dade, for ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, do by these presents, grant, covenant and agree to and with the said Thomas Triplett his executors administrators and assigns, to warrant and forever defend the right, title and interest, in and to the said negro girl Maria, in the premises mentioned against the right title, claim and demand, of all and every person or persons whatsoever, unto the said Thomas Triplett, his executors administrators and assigns, In
