246 Be it Known unto all men That I John Hobs In consideracon of one Thousand pounds of Tobacco. I have received of Henry Ivie and from which I doe herby acquitt release and discharge him. have and by pnts. Doe give grant bargan and sell asigne and sett over unto ye sd Henry Ivie his heires and assignes one pece or parcell of Land lyeing and being nigh my won [own?] dwelling house Conteining fifty acres of Land more or less and being in the possesion and occupacon of ye sd Henry bounded vz begining att ye head of ye long meadow from thence along ye sd John hobs his line SW to a great slash from thence by marked Trees to the myeoing place ffrom thence by marked trees to the head of ye long meadow wher it began Together with all woods underwoods profitts privilidges and advantages to ye sd fyfye acres of Land more or less belonging To have and to hold to him ye sd Henry Ivie his heires and assignes for ever in as full and ample maner to all intents and purposes as I ye sd John Hobs held ye same by virtue of my patent In wittness Wherof ye sd John Hobs hath to thes pnts sett his hand and seal this fifteenth day of Septembr. 1695 John his ‡ mark Hobs [seal] Signed sealed ddd in pnce of Gillbyrd Hay Tho: Simmons

Septemb 16 1695 John Hobbs afforsd ackonwledged this deed in Court to the sd Henry Ivey And his wife relinquished her right of Dower in the sd Land. Test James Minge Cl Cur. Recorded P [per] Order of the Justices. Sber. 16.1695

Memorand. Uppon the back of a Deed dated Sber. 5. 1687 made by Tho: Bott and [illegible] his wife unto William Bird Esqr and ye same day acknowledged in this Court & Recorded. [illegible] the subsequent deed. endorsed. [illegible]

This Indenture made this twenty ninth day of Aprill A. Dom 1695 betweene William Byrd Esqr of the one part and John Fountain and Margarit his wife of the other part Wittnesseth. That ye sd William Byrd Esqr for and in considerason of ye sum of thirty one pounds ten shillings in hand payd at ye sealing and delivering herof P [per] ye sd John fountain & Margarett his wife ye [red?] Wherof he doth hereby acknowledge & therof & therefrom doth hereby Clearly acquitt and discharge ye sd John fountaine & Margarett his Wife their heires and asignes for ever, have bargained sold enfeofed & Confirmed unto ye sd John Fountain and Margaret his Wife theire & Either of their heires and assignes for ever one tract or Devidend of Land situate lying & being in Jordans conteining by Estimation one hundred and fifty acres to ye same more or less as P [per] the within mentioned Conveyance may more fully appear To have and to hold the sd land & AP [per]tenances to ye sd John Fountaine and Margaret his wife their heirs and assignes for ever in as large and ample maner to all intents and purposses as ye sd William Byrd hath doth or might enjoy by virtue of ye with in mentioned deed or any other wrightins wtsoever from him ye sd Wm Byrd Esqr his heyrs or Ass. or from any other person or persons whatsoever claiming by from or under them or any of them In Wittness Wherof the sd William Byrd Esqr hath here unto set his hand and seal ye day & year above written William Byrd Mary Byrd
