unable to do him any service whatever, whereas, heretofore they have been regarded as an unusually healthy and robust family. Your petitioner therefore prays your honorable bodies, to relieve him by a Bill in his favour to the effect of compensating him for the value of Ben i. e. $1450 and for the value of Ary i. e. $600, which values are stated in the accompanying statements. He claims this compensation, on the ground that his property has been sacrificed and destroyed by a Civil War and commotion, within the territory of the States wherein he had just reason to suppose his property would be entirely and efficiently protected. And your petitioner will, and in duty bound ever pray &c. John H. Allstadt
