Item I Constitute my deare and loveing wife Elizabeth Edwards the whole and sole Executrix of this my last will & Testament and in Witness whereunto I have heareunto sett to my hand and affixed my seale this 29th day of the moneth called October 1699

In the name of God Amen I George Woodlief of Charles Citty County being of sound perfect & disposing minde & memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life am desirous to to settle my small estate the Almighty hath been pleasent bless me with among my children & that no quarrells or disputes may happen amongst them after my decease doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament in manner following hereby revoaking all other wills by me heretofore made and first of all I bequeath my soul unto the hands of Almighty God trusting in the merrits & passion of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ for pardon and remission of all my sins desireing that my boddy be decently intered after the manner of the church of England according to the discretion of my executor hereafter named and as for worldly effect my debts being first satisfied & payed I give and bequeath the same in manner following (viz) I give & bequeath to my son John Woodlief & his male heirs for ever all my land lying in Jordans upon the River between Mr Blands land and Mr Poythrees land and So from the River on the said Blands land as the dividing line between me & him up to the mane Run wich Run is to be the bounds of this land till it runs one hundred yards above the path leading from my house to my brother Woodlief & from there a direct line towards & near part of the Poythees line- Item I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Woodlief & his heirs male for ever all that part of my lands in Jordans lying between Mr Blands land & the Bottom runing by the plantation where Joseph Tooey lived and along that Bottom & the nearoff cource thereof to the miles end enclosing all the land between the Said Bottom and Joseph Mattox & on Mr Blands land & the Sd Maine Run on the southward side thereof reserving out the before mentioned bequeath six years rent of the plantation Thomas Burge now lives on which rent I give & bequeath to my grandaughter Mary Woodlief towards her maintainance if she shall be loung live but if she dyes before the expiration of the Sd six years then so much thereof as remain unpaid after my decease to return to my Sd son Thomas Woodlief again
