late of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, appeared in the Marine Court of the City of New York, held in the City Hall of the said City on the twenty seventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five (the said Court being a Court of Record, having Common Law Jurisdiction, and a Clerk and Leal,) and declared on oath in open Court that it was bona fide his intention to become a Citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever, all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly to the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
