KNOW all Men by these Presents, That We Jabiz Pitt & Covington Corbin of the Country of Accomack [illegible] are held and firmly bond unto our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Second, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c. in Two Hundred Pounds lawful Money of Virginia, to be paid to our said Lord the King, his Heirs and Successors: To the which Paiment well and truly to be made, We bind ourselves, and every of us, our, and every of our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly, by these Presents. Sealed with our Seals, dated the Twenty Sixth Day of January in the XVIth Year of His Majesty's Reign, Annoq; Dom. 1742
THE Condition of the above Obligation is such, That whereas the above-bound Jabiz Pitt is by the Honourable WILLIAM GOOCH, Esq; His Majesty's Lieutenant-Governor, and Commander in Chief, of the Colony and Dominion of Virginia, constituted and appointed one of the Inspectors of Tobacco, at the Public Warehouse established at Pitts & Guilford in Accomack County pursuant to the Act of Assembly, intituled, An Act, For reducing the Laws made, for amending the Staple of Tobacco, and for preventing Frauds in His Majesty's Customs, into one Act of Assembly. Now, if the said Jabiz Pitt shall truly and faithfully perform the Duty and Office of an Inspector, according to the Directions, and true Intent and Meaning of the said Act: Then this Obligation to be void; or else to remain in full Force and Virtue.
