Articles of agreement made and entered into this second day of July in the year 1806 Between P. Gaines of Grayson County of the one part and John Patton and George Jones of the same County the other part witnesseth that they the said John Patton and George Jones hath this Day Bargaind and Sold unto the said Philip Gaines all their Right title Claim and Interest they have in & to a certain Negro woman called Hagar which said Negro they the said Petton and Jones Claims in Right of their wives who is heirs and Legatees of [Abron?] Johnson Decd late of Ana Rundal County in the State of Maryland and in Consideration of the sum of Eighty Dollars each to them in hand paid by the said Gaines [upon?] two notes signed and Delivered to the said parties. It is to be undstood that the said Patton and Jones Sells a one third part each of the said Negro as witness our hands and Seals the Day and date above written.
