Question by same What time of the year 1838 after the death of Tho Brook did you take the said slaves Lewey & Albert Answer At the death of Thos Brooks decd I was in possession of the slave Albert under an agreement made with Mr Brook that I should have the use & services of said slave free of charge without hire as he wished to live with me And as he Mr Brooks had permitted the slave Lewey to go & act & work for himself for some time before & who was at the death of Mr Brooks going at large & acting as a free man.
