This indenture made the 18th day of January in the year 1847 between Henry Kindred and John E Beal overseers of the poor of the [loor?] district of St Lukes parrish in the county of Southampton of the one part and Jacob Barnes of said parrish and county of the other part Witnesseth that the said Henry Kindred and John E Beal overseers of the poor as aforesaid by Virtue of an order of the court of the aforesaid county of Southampton bearing date October Term year 1846 have put plaised and bound and by these presents do put place and bind Salley F Boon a mulatto Girl of the age of four years at the 29th day of October 1846 to be an apprentice with him the said Jacob Barnes on terms fixed and settled by the said court making the order above refered to dwell from the date of these presents until the said Salley F Boon shall come to the age of Eighteen years according to the act of the general assembly in Such case made and provided by and during all which time and term the said Sally F Boon shall the said Jacob Barnes, her said master well and faithfully serve in all such lawfull business as the said Salley F Boon shall be put unto by her said master according to the power wit and ability of her the said Salley F Boon, and honestly and obediently shall in all things behave herself towards her said maser Jacob Barnes and the said Jacob Barnes for his part for himself his Executors and administrators doth hereby promise and covenant to and with the said overseers of the poor and every of them their and every of their Executors and administrators and their and every of their successors for the Time being and to and with the said Salley F Boons that he the said Jacob Barnes shall the said Salley F Boon in the craft mystery and occupation of a house maid which he the said Jacob Barnes now has use of in the best manner that he can or may teach instruct and inform or cause to be taught instructed and informed as such as there unto belongeth or in any wise appertaineth and that the said Jacob Barnes Shall also find and allow unto the said apprentice sufficient meat drink apparrel washings lodging and all the things needful or meat for an apprentice during the Term aforesaid and will moreover pay to the said Salley F Boon the sum of three dollars at the Expiration of the said term as by law directed and adjudged by the said court.
