This Indenture made this [blank] day of [blank month] in the year 1866 between Geo W Spivey of the County of Southampton of the one part L C Cobb of the said County of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Geo. W. Spivey as affore said acting with the allowance and approbation of the County Court of Southampton and in persuance of said order to that affect made and entered in to Geo W Spivey have put and bound and by these presents put and bind Enoch Cobb a collord [colored] boy of the said County who has to be provided for and assisted by the Overseers of said County and being of the age of thirteen years to be apprentice to the said L C Cobb to the trade and business of farming and with him to dwell and remain and serve untill [until] he the said Enoch Cobb untill he shall attain his full age of twenty one years during all which time he the said L C Cobb his master faithfully shall serve and obey his secrets keep and and his lawfull commands willing do and proform [perform] and shall not absent himself from the service of his said master day or night without his leave but shall in all things as a faithfull apprentice behave himself towards his master and all his family the said term and the said L. C. Cobb in consideration of the faithfull service to be proform by the said Enoch doth her[e]by Covenant promis[e] and agree with the said Overseer and his successor in office that he the said Enoch his said apprentice in the trade of Farming and shall and will provide and allow unto the said apprentice during all the said term competent and surficient [sufficient] meat drink washing lodgeing and apperrell [apparel] and all other things necessary for the said apprentice and the said L C Cobb doth Covenant and agree with the said Overseers of the poor and his successor in office during the said term that he the said Enoch whereas the said County Court by the order afforesaid did direct for the service of said apprentice
