This Indenture made the eighth day of November in the year of our Lord 1827 between John B. Tilden and George Linn [illegible] overseers of the Poor of the County of Frederick of the one part, and John Lamly of the said County of the other part witnesseth that the said overseers in consequence of the authority in them vested by law, and pursuant to an order of the county court of Frederick dated November term 1827 have put placed and bound and by these presents do put place and bind mulatto Tom, unto the said John Lamley, unto him to dwell and serve after the manner of an apprentice until he shall attain the age of twenty one years (he the said mulatto tom being twelve years old the day of June last passt) during all which time the said apprentice his said master shall well and faithfully serve his secrets keep & his lawfull commands at all times readily obey, [illegible] this his said master he shall not do nor willingly suffer the same to be done by others but henceforth shall notify him [illegible] of the [illegible] of his said master he shall not waste or smuggle [illegible] from his said master; from the service of his said master he shall not at any time depart or [illegible] himself without his permission, and in all things he shall truly, honestly, and faithfully
