This Indenture made this thirteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred & thirty five, between John Cocke one of the overseers of the poor of the Parish of Portmouth in the County of Norfolk of the one part and Joseph L. Parker of the other part [illegible] that the said John Cocke overseer of the poor as aforesaid by virtue of an order made at [illegible] [and eight hundred and thirty four?]. On which said order the said John Cocke as one of the overseers as aforesaid has put placed and bound and by these present, doth put put place and bind Feeling Bailey (orphan of Joseph Bailey) a free boy of colour of the age of fourteen years to be apprentice to hime the said Joseph [illegible] and as an apprentice with him the said Joeseph L Parker to dwell from the date of their presents until he the said Feeling Bailey shall arrive to the age of twenty one years according to the act of the General assembly in such case made & provided by and during all which time and terms the said Feeling Bailey shall the said Joseph L Parker his said master well and faithfully serve in all such lawful business or he shall be put unto by his said master according to the power wit and ability of him the said Feeling Bailey and honestly and obediently in all things shall behave
