No. 26 Augusta County, to wit "Registered in the county court of Hanover, Fontaine Maxfield: The said Fontaine Maxfield is about twenty two years of age, about 5 feet four or five inches high, is of a dark mulatto complexion; was born free. [Witness my?] hand the 25th day of February 1818." "William Pollard [C.H.C.?]" "Teste Carter [Berkley?], presiding Justice of the peace of the court now sitting." No. 27. "Hanover County, to wit: Registered in the County Court of Hanover Foster H. Maxfield. The said Foster H. Maxfield is aged about nineteen years, about six feet high, of dark mulatto complexion, and was born free. Witness my hand this 25th day of February 1818."
