Know all Men by these Presents, that we Josiah Tatum & Zachariah Tatum are held and firmly bound unto John Bowman, Wm. Finch, Andrew Buchanan, Geo. Buchanan Jas. Hopkirk Ronald Grawford [Crawford] & John McKee Citizens of the Kingdom of Great Britain & surviving partners of Alexander Spears [sic] John Bowman & Company in the just and full sum of Two thousand three hundred & 45 Dollars & forty Cents to be paid unto the said John Bowman Wm. Finch & others their certain Attorney, their Heirs, Executors, Administrators, or Assigns; to which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, jointly and severally and each of our joint and several Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, firmly by these Presents.  Sealed with our seals, and dated this 27th day of October one thousand seven hundred and ninety-five

The Condition of the above Obligation is such, that whereas John Bowman Wm Finch Andrew Buchanan Geo. Buchanan Jas, Hopkirk Ronald Crawford & John McKee Citizens of the Kingdom of G. Britain & survg. [partners] of A. Spears J. Bowman & Co hath sued out of the Court of the United States, [for] the Middle Circuit in the Virginia District, a Writ of Fieri Facias against the Estate of Josiah Tatum for the Sum One thousand one hundred & seventy Dollars & 20 Cents including Interest, Costs, and Marinalls Commisssions, which Writ hath been duly executed by Samuel G. Adams Deputy Marshall for David M. Randolph Marshall of and for the District of Virginia on the following Property, to wit; Twenty head of Cattle, Six negro Slaves to wit, Jack, Currie, Hannah, Juddy, Betty, & Molbrough

and the said Josiah Tatum, being desirous of keeping the aforesaid Property in his Possession until the day of sale, of the same has tended the above bound Zachariah Tatum as Security for the forthcoming and delivery of the same, at the place, and on the day of sale, agreeable to Law.  NOW if the said Josiah Tatum & Zachariah Tatum or either of them, do and shall deliver the aforesaid Property to me the said Deputy Marshall, or one of his Deputies, at Francis Foese's house in Chesterfield County on Thursday the twenty first day of December next, then and there to be disposed of according to law, for the discharge of the aforesaid Writ of Fieri Facias, then, in that case, the above Obligation to be void, or else to remain in full Force and Virtue.
