University of Virginia Summer School Office of the Director University, Va.

August 5, 1917.

Mrs. M. B. C. Munford, Richmond, Virginia.

My dear Mrs. Munford:

I am enclosing herewith a copy of a note written to me voluntarily by Miss Griffith who attended the Summer School this year. The last paragraph, it seems to me, is one of the strongest arguments we can use for a coordinate college. There are scores of women in Virginia and the South who, like Miss Griffith, would greatly prefer to come to the University of Virginia if their work could be directly credited towards a degree, but when they must take work here and take changes of having it transferred for credit in another institution they naturally decide not to take the risk and go elsewhere.

Very sincerely,

Chris G. Maphis

CGM/D

Director.
