Sweet Briar College Sweet Briar Virginia

President's Office

November 5, 1917.

Mrs. Beverley Mumford, 503 E. Grace Street, Richmond, Va.

My dear Mrs. Mumford:-

Thank you very much for your letter of October 29th. I shall take advantage of your kind offer of a conference sometime during the week beginning November 12th. As you say that the early part of the week will suit you best, I plan to be in Richmond on the morning of the 12th. As soon as I arrive I shall telephone you making an engagement.

I do wish it were possible for you to attend our Founder's Day exercises on Friday, the 16th.

I think I understand your position with reference to the coordinate college entirely. Of course, as I said, I believe that the alternative plan is a good one. What I want largely, however, is your advice and cooperation in the matter of the upbuilding of Sweet Briar. It should have a great future, and with the help that you can give, it will have. You say that Miss McKenney will be with you at that time.

Sincerely yours,

Emilie W. McVea
