THIS INDENTURE MADE THE Second day of November in the year of our Lord 1823 Between Philip Koontz Overseer of the Poor of the  [blank] District in the County of Rockingham of the one part and David Harrison of the other part, witnesseth, that the said Overseer of the Poor aforesaid by virtue of an Order of the Court of the County aforesaid baring date the Second day of June in the year 1823 has placed and bound and by these presents doth place and bind Jude a Negro Girl of the age of Thirteen years, to be an Apprentice with him the said David Harrison and as an Apprentice with him the said David Harrison to dwell from the date of these presents, until the said Jude shall arrive and come to the age of Eighteen years, according to the Act of the General Assembly in that case made and provided, by and during all which time and term the said Jude shall the said David Harrison her said Master well and faithfully serve in all such lawful business as the said Jude shall be put unto by her Said master according to the Power, Wit and Ability of her the said Jude honestly and obediently in all things behave towards her said Master and honestly and orderly towards the rest of the Family of the said David Harrison  And the said David Harrison for himself his Executors and Administrators doth hereby promise and covenant to and with the said Overseer of the Poor and his Successor for the time being, that the said Apprentice shall be Taught the the art of knitting, Spinning, Sewing &c which he the said David Harrison now useth in his own Family after the best manner that he can or may teach, instruct and inform or cause to be taught, instructed and informed, as much as thereunto belongeth or in any wise appertaineth, and that he the said David Harrison shall also find and allow unto the said Apprentice sufficient meat, drink, appearel, washing, lodging, and all other things needful or meet for an Apprentice during the term aforesaid:  And also that the said  [blank] shall teach or cause to be taught to the said {blank], and will moreover pay to the said Jude the Sum of Twenty Dollars at the Expiration of the aforesaid Term.  IN WITNESS whereof the Parties to these Presents have interchangably set their Hands and Seals the Day and Year above written.
