My Dear Madam:- The Archaeological Institute of America voted unanimously at their last meeting in Pittsburgh to establish a branch Society in Richmond. The General Secretary of the Institute, Professor Mitchell Carroll, has asked me to bring the matter to the attention of the representative people of Richmond. I beg the favor of you to advise me who would be the best person for me to write about the plan. It occurred to me that the very best organization for our purpose would be the Woman's Club. Will you be so good as to give me the name of the President, and let me know to whom I should best write in the interest of the proposed Richmond Society of the Archaeological Institute of America. What I want to do is introduce our General Secretary to the most representative audience possible in order that he may lay the whole matter before them. I shall greatly appreciate any word of good advice you are able to give. Very sincerely yours, Thomas Fitz-Hugh
