[address and date, top right corner] Camp McClellen Saturday afternoon

[Body] Dearest Mother, I am now back in camp and sure have had a pretty rough week altho I liked it all right resembled very much of a camping trip like some of my trips on Jack's Island but on a larger scale, of course. We had a very warm week and out very well. I haven't head from you quite a time now but Joe Phillip has gotten back and told me that he saw one of my brothers. I don't know whether it was Dink or Garman but anyway it didn't matter which. He said that Riva was sick, I believe. We left Richmond Friday night at 10:00 o'clock and reached camp at 6:00 o'clock Saturday morning, a distance of twenty-five miles. Joe told me that there was almost a flood of rain up there when he was home. Do you reckon it will rot the potatoes?
