This Indenture made the 28th day of September in the year 1830 between Stephen Farrar and Joel L Walton overseers of the poor of the 2nd Hundred of Louisa County of the one part and Atwood Wash of the the said County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Stephen Farrar and Joel L Walton Overseers of the poor as aforesaid County bearing date the 13th day of September in the year 1830 have put, placed and bound, and by these presents do put plane and bind Winston White Son of Mariah White a free Woman of Colour, of the age of about thirteen year and as an apprentice with him the said Atwood Wash to dwell from the said of these presents until the said Winston White shall come to the age of twenty one years according to the act of the General Assembly in that case made and provided. By and during all which time and term the said Winston White shall the said Atwood Wash his said master, well and faithfully serve in all such lawful business as the said Winston White be put unto by his said Master according to the power, Wit and ability of him the said Winston White honestly and obediently in all things shall behave himself towards his said Master, and honestly and orderly towards the rest of the family of the said Atwood Wash. And the said Atwood Wash for his part for himself his executors and administrators doth hereby promise and covenant to and With the said Overseers of the poor and every of them, their and every of their Executors and Administrators, and their and every of their successors for the time being, and to and with the said Winston White that he the said Atwood Wash shall the said Winston White in the mystery and occupation of a farmer which he the said Atwood Wash now useth, after the best manner that he can or may teach, instruct and inform or cause to be taught instructed and informed as much as there belongeth or in anywise appertaineth: and that the said Atwood Wash shall also find and allow unto the said apprentice sufficient meat, drink, apparel, washing, lodging, and all other things needful for meet for an apprentice during the term aforesaid: and will moreover pay to the said Winston White the sum
