In Rockbridge County Court March 1, 1853

Ordered that John G. Pole, one of the overseers of the poor, bind out Fanny Evans, a free negro, aged 13 years, daughter of James Evans, to James W. Lindsay, to be taught housekeeping, until she arrives at the age of 18 years; and at the expiration of her apprenticeship, the said Lindsay is to give to the said apprentice clothing to the value of twenty five dollars.
