At Rockbridge County Court January 31, 1853  Ordered that the Overseers of the poor, of this County do bind Jacob Moore (of colour) seven years old, son of Betsy Moore to Henry McCorkle, according to law, to learn the business of a farmer, and the said McCorkle at the expiration of the term of apprenticeship of said Moore is to pay him twenty dollars in money and to furnish him with a suit of clothes worth twenty dollars.
