Printed by James Lucas, Calvert street, -- Baltimore. This Indenture, made the 15 day of October in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three between Edmund R. Allen Overseer of the poor of the County of Accomack, of the one part, and John R Colona of the said County of Accomack of the other part, witnesseth: that the said Edmund R Allen Overseer of the Poor as aforesaid, acting with the allowance and approbation of the County Court of Accomack County, and in pursuance of an order of the said Court to that effect, made and entered on the 31st day of October one thousand eight hundred and fifty three have put and bound, and do by these presents put and bind Jane Cripples Fm. of the said County, (who has to be provided for and assisted by the Overseers of the said County,) and being of the age of seven years to be apprentice to the said John R Colona to learn the Menial during servant and with him to dwell and remain and serve until day the said Jane Cripples shall attain her full age of eighteen years, during all which time he the said [unreadable] master faithfully serve and obey, his secrets keep and his lawful commands willingly do and shall perform, and shall not absent herself from the service of her said master, day or night, without his leave, but shall in all things as a faithful apprentice behave herself towards her master and all his family during the said term. And the said John R Colona in consideration of the faithful service to be performed by the said Jane Cripples Fm. doth hereby covenant, promise and agree with the said Overseers and their successors in office, that he the said John R Colona his said apprentice the duties of a menial servant shall and will teach and instruct, or cause to be taught and instructed in the best manner that he can, and shall and will provide and allow unto the said apprentice, during all the said term, competent and sufficient meat, drink, washing, lodging, apparel and all other things necessary for the said apprentice. And whereas the said County Court, by the order aforesaid, did direct that the said John R. Colona for the services of the said apprentice should pay to the said Jane Cripples FM the sum of six dollars for her service for the years
