the County Court of Accomack County, and in pursuance of an order of the said Court to that effect, made and entered on the 31st day of May one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine have put and bound, and do by these presents put and bind Thomas Sample (FN) of said County, (who has to be provided for and assisted by the Overseers of the said County,) and being of the age of seventeen years in the first day of October next to be apprentice to the said William J. Beloate to learn art of Farming and with him to dwell and remain and serve until he the said Thomas Sample (FN) shall attain the full age of Twenty one years, during all which time he the said Thomas Sample his master faithfully serve and obey, his secrets keep and his lawful commands willingly do and shall perform, and shall not absent himself from the service of his said master, day or night, without his leave, but shall in all things as a faithful apprentice behave himself towards his master and all his family during the said term. And the said William J. Beloate in consideration of the faithful service to be performed by the said Thomas Sample doth hereby covenant, promise and agree with the said Overseers and their successors in office, that he the said William J. duties of Farmer and will provide and allow unto said apprentice,during all the said term, competent and sufficient meat, drink, washing, lodging, apparel and all other things necessary for the said apprentice. And whereas the said County Court, by the order aforesaid, did direct that the said William J. Beloate for the services of the said apprentice should pay to the said Thomas Sample (FN) upon his arriving at the age of twenty one the sum of eighty five dollars and the said William J. Beloate doth hereby also covenant and agree to and with the said Overseers of the Poor and their successors in office, that he shall and will well and truly pay the said sums of money to the said Overseer of the Poor and their successors in office, for the use and objects specified in the said order. to the said Lithgow Stockley the sum of Three dollars ($3) for his services

for the year where in he arrives to the age of Sixteen Five dollars ($5), for the

next year, Ten dollars for the next year, Twelve dollars ($12) for the next

year, Fifteen dollars ($15) for the next year and Twenty five dollars (25) for the

year wherein the said apprentice arrives to the age aforesaid

the said William H Waterfield doth hereby also

covenant and agree to and with the said Overseers of the Poor and their successors in office, that he shall and
