THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, To the Sheriff of Mason County, Greeting:  WE command you to summon Elijah G. Southerland to appear before the Judge of our Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery of our county of Campbell, at the Court-house, on the 1 day of October term next, to testify and the truth to say in behalf of German Jordan in a certain matter of controversy then and there depending and undetermined between Armistead Long Plaintiff, and said Jordan Defendant. And this he shall in no wise omit, under the penalty of $300.  And have then there this writ. Witness JOHN D. ALEXANDER, Clerk of our said Court, the 1st day of September 1847, in the 72nd year of the Commonwealth.  Jno D Alexander
