April 3 - 1918 Whereas: We the members of the Virginia Branch of the National Woman's Party have been wonderfully helped and encouraged during the last three years of struggle for the Susan B. Anthony Amendment, to know that among the Virginia delegation in Congress our cause had one friend, one Representative who regarded his women constituents as people. Be it therefore resolved That we in annual meeting assembled express to the Hon. C. Bascom Slemp, Representative from the Ninth District, our sincere profound gratitude and appreciation in acknowledgement his efforts in behalf of and his steadfast and loyal support of the Susan. B.
