Know all men by these presents that I Daniel P Mitchell of the County of Lancaster, Virginia, for and in Consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear to my sister Margarett M Hughlett of the County of Northumberland, Virginia, as well as for the further Consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid by the said Margarett H. at & before the ensealing & delivery of these presents, (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) hath given and granted and by these presents do give & grant during my pleasure and no longer, unto the said Margarett the following property, to wit, one Mahogany dining table, one Mahogany Bureau, 1 Wash stand, 1 silver ladle, one bed, bedstead & furniture, one Sorrel horse, one Cow, one heifer, and also the said Margarett's life estate in the following Negroes, Negro man Isaa, Negro girl Jenny, Negro woman Polly & two young Children, Alice & [Sharessa?], Negro girl [Rina?] & Negro boy Peter which life Estate I purchased at the sale of William E Hughlett Estate, to have and to hold the said property & the said life Estate in the said Negroes unto the said Margarett M against the claim of claims of all & any person or persons whatsoever other than myself. I do hereby warrant & forever defend by these presents In witness whereof I hereto set my hand & seal the 10 day of June 1841.
