October 11, 1918. Dr. Carlisle L. Nottingham, Cape Charles, Va. My dear Dr. Nottingham:- Pardon my delayed reply to your letter of September 19th, which I find upon my return from an extended trip in the Southwest, where I went to inspect the military companies, and to endeavor to arouse interest in miners for the increased production of coal, and to speak in behalf of the sale of Liberty Bonds. I have referred your letter to the Adjutant General, who will take this matter up with you without further delay. Yours very truly, Governor.
