At a Court held for Accomack County, on the 27th day of August, 1849. The Grand Jury returned into Court with a presentment against Joshua Laws f.n. & others, as follows, [viz?]: "We the grand jury do over oaths present Joshua Laws, George Mason, Dick Mason, George Ker, John Ker, Edmund Ewell, George Downing, [Exor?] Floyd, free negroes, emancipated since the 1st day of May in the year 1806, for remaining in the Commonwealth of Virginia against the Acts of Assembly made and provided in such cases, on evidence of J. J Blackstone Com: of the Revenue for the parish of St. George in the County of Acco: Saml: C. White, foreman Test: J.W.Gilles C.A.C.
