The Commonwealth of Virginia to the Sheriff of Campbell County greeting we command you that you summon Samuel M Lamberth to appear before the Judge of our circuit Superior court of Law and chancery holden in and for The County of Campbell at The Court House there of on the first day of the next term to testify and the truth to say in behalf of German Jordan in a certain matter of controversy in our said court depending and undetermined between Armistead Long Plaintiff and said Jordan Defendant And This he shall in no wise omit in [under?] the penalty of $400 and have then there this [wait?] witness John D Alexander clerk of our said court this 6th day of March 1866 In the 70th year of the commonwealth Jno.
