We James Young & Wm. T. Ballow do hereby certify that we are well acquainted with Jacob, Patsey, and Merriwether negroes emancipated by the will of Philip E. Vass dec'd. and that to the best of our knowledge and belief the said Jacob is about forty five years of age--that the said Patsey is about fifty five years of age and--that the said Merriwether is about thirty two years of age--that the said Patsey has no children and that Jacob & Merriwether are married to women who are slaves - James Young, Wm T Ballow subscribed and sworn to before me this 10th Oct 1855.
