Pleas before the honorable the Judge of the Superior Court of Chancery held at the town of Lynchburg as required by law for the District thereof on the tenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and twenty Six, and in the 51st year of our foundation.

Be it remembered that heretofore to wit on the 16 day of May one thousand eight hundred and twenty Peregrine Echols by James Hendrick esq. his attorney filed in the office of the said Superior Court of Chancery, with the clerk thereof, his bill against James Leftwich and Augustine Leftwich exors of Thomas Leftwich deceased, which bill follows in these words. And afterwards to wit Rules holden in The Clerks office of the said Superior Court of Chancery on the 26 day of August following (Here Copy 2 beginning with the word "The" & ending with the word "Contrary"[)]

Upon the back of a copy of the foregoing order is the following return (Here copy the return).

and afterward to wit rules holden in the Clerks office of the said Superior Court of Chancery on the 24 day of October following, came the defendant Augustine Leftwich by William Leigh esq. his attorney and put in his answer to the foregoing bill of the plaintiff, which answer with the proof thereof is in these words (Here Copy 3).

To which answer the plaintiff by Council as the same rules replied generally and commissions were then awarded the plaintiff and that defendant to examine and take the Depositions of their witnesses giving to each other due notice of the time and place of executing the same

And afterwards to wit at Rules holden in the clerk office of the said Superior Court Chancery on the 16th day of April 1821. On the motion of the plaintiff by counsel this cause was set for hearing as to the defendant Augustine Leftwich.
